Intuitive Abstract Art, Assemblage and Collage
Memories of my travels and also patterns, texture and colors of everyday life inspire me to create abstracts, landscapes and seascapes. I use layers of acrylic paint as texture reveals a mystery of a place in time and its history. The color and movement of water has always tugged at my heart and I often incorporate blues and aquas of the ocean, waves, rain, clouds and rivers. Most of my work is spontaneous and intuitive, meaning I experiment and play which gives me freedom to make painting fun. The grids in my work represent a way to feel in control and organized as the process of painting a piece is very much like working through a conflict. There are layers and depth, in the same way as a conversation or relationship; a single action can have a reaction that remains over time.
My assemblages and collage are created with wood, paper, plaster, rust, metal, wire, and bursts of reflective light using mica flakes with the desire for intrigue and curiosity; to bring the viewer closer.
I have been creating art as long as I can remember. After studying art at UC Santa Barbara's College of Creative Studies, I owned a faux painting business for 30 years where I added color and murals to many homes and businesses.
Now it is my time to draw from my emotions, create from my heart, and pursue my passion.
